While following up on a previous Southern Truth article about something fishy going on in the case of the petitioner’s attempt to oust Wanda Halbert, Shelby County Clerk, well I am here to report today on Wednesday, June 19, Juneteenth, a celebration of jubilee, that since that article appeared, a Shelby County judge has granted Halbert’s motion to dismiss the ouster petition against her on Tuesday, June 18 according to Court documents obtained by FOX13 show that Halbert’s request to dismiss was granted because District Attorney General Coty Wamp who filed the petition “lacks subject matter-jurisdiction to pursue this action against defendant because plaintiff lacks standing to bring this matter…”

Now look at that. Here you have people who stepped out of jurisdiction to get rid of Ms. Halbert. I wonder why? That remains to be seen or revealed but for now it is a fact. She has been exonerated, she has been found not guilty of the Trumped up charges which were brought against her.

In a press conference shortly after the announcement, Wamp said that the case was dismissed because a judge decided that her office did not have the jurisdiction to file the request. Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy previously appointed Wamp’s office to handle the case to avoid any potential conflict of interest. “We have done a significant amount of work and believe that Ms. Halbert has committed willful neglect on her park as Clerk of Shelby County and we believe that she’s incompetent,” Wamp said. Wamp said that only the attorney general, district attorney or county attorney have the jurisdiction to file a request that remove Halbert from office. She said that the attorney general has not implied whether or not he will take on the case but that she does expect to have conversations with Mulroy about another potential attempt to removing Halbert. The news report continued with Wamp saying, “”Wanda Halbert is going to continue to be the worst county clerk across the State of Tennessee,” Wamp said. “She has been offered help over and over again by county officials. They have gone to her office and she has kicked them out instead of taking their help or assistance. She is not going to get better. She is probably going to be more arrogant about what she knows or doesn’t know… So Shelby County is stuck with her for now unless somebody else files this petition or refiles this petition.”

Coty Wamp – District Attorney General, Eleventh Judicial District

Wow!

Who is Wamp that she is so comfortable in defaming and assassinating Ms. Halbert’s character as she did in her statement during the press conference after the hearing where the judge clearly dismissed the case. Without any credible facts of such statement as Wamp has made against Ms. Halbert, she had the audacity to utter those repugnant pronouncements against Halbert. This is clearly outrageous that this supposedly legal hound believes that she can get away with belligerent, low-down words when she said Ms. Halbert is not going to get better and that she is probably going to be more arrogant about what she knows or doesn’t know. Hold up Wamp, you are outta order. Yes, you are and you’ve taken your position just a little too far. The judge’s ruling to dismiss the case is a finality for you in this race because you are out of jurisdiction and yet you throw mud and try to smear Ms. Halbert’s face. This is truly a sign of a snake, sneaky and diabolically moving around in Shelby County taxpayer’s public space as a Shelby County District General and it is a disgrace. Get over the fact that Ms. Halbert is there to stay because the people have had their say and maybe if you keep slinging dirt you can make a difference on the next election day.  Oh, and by the way I wonder what will other initiates, specifically Commissioner Tammi Sawyer, do next with the cards they’ve been dealt  after, what I believe, were trumped up charges in the first place but the law won out. No jurisdiction! They tried but it didn’t work. Ms. Halbert stood her ground and now the People’s Clerk can finally settle down and focus on the work that’s now behind because she had to fight off the thirsty, hungry for prestige and power bloodhounds.
