We Ain’t Buying It! Choose Community Over Corporations

The government shutdown is over, now what?

Black Women for Wellness invites you to join us in taking real, collective action by participating in a shopping blackout from November 27th through December 1st, 2025.

This holiday season, BWW is joining Win With Black Women and our national allies to show the true power of Black women’s economic influence. We are taking a stand against policies and corporate partnerships that harm our communities, undermine our rights, and threaten our democracy. The impact of the shutdown is still unfolding for Black women and our families, and we are pushing back in a way that corporations cannot ignore.

From Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday (November 27–December 1), we’re asking you to hit pause on shopping from major corporations like Target, Amazon, and Home Depot. This action is taking direct aim at Target, for caving to this administration’s biased attacks on DEI; Home Depot, for allowing and colluding with ICE to kidnap our neighbors on their properties; and Amazon, for funding this administration to secure their own corporate tax cuts.

Instead, we encourage you to:

  • Support small and local Black-owned, immigrant-owned and POC-owned businesses
  • Give the money you would have spent to charity
  • Use the time and money to connect with those you love, and rediscover what matters.
  • Invest in community-based mutual aid
  • Redirect your spending to organizations serving Black women, girls, and families
  • Pledge to be a conscious consumer and redirect your dollars locally
  • Rest, reconnect, and reclaim time with loved ones

This weekend is one of the biggest shopping periods of the year. Last year, more than 196 million Americans shopped over this five-day stretch. That makes it the perfect moment to send a message.

When Black women move together, we move the nation.

Join us November 27 – December 1, 2025 and choose community over corporations.

In solidarity,

Black Women for Wellness
