This is Black History Month and I am amazed that after so many years of promoting this significant month to recall our heritage and cultural that our very own first Black woman mayor, the honorable Karen Bass, has been somewhat silent when it comes to celebration and/or jubilation that we normally celebrate at City Hall. For many years, I’ve looked forward to Our Author’s Study Club opening with a grand celebration either in the halls of the council building or at the very least on the front lawn since its inception, but this year it didn’t happen. Why, when we have our first Black woman mayor in City Hall? What’s going on here? It’s Black History month Mayor Bass where’s the leadership at city hall to recall our stories and histories that paved the way for you to be where you are today?
Lest we forget.
