The Southern Truth

Congratulations to Dr. John Warren, the newly elected President of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), chosen during its Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia. Dr. Warren, you will make the difference the Black Press needs—yes, I mean it, and I say it because today, more than ever, we need a voice of stature and standards in this season where some seek to turn back the hands of time.
Dr. Warren’s election to the presidency of the national organization of the Black Press is truly befitting. With his wealth of experiences of navigating the federal halls and walls of power in Washington, D.C. as well as his ability to use his influence in the State of California with the powers that be, we applaud a winner who can hit the ground running to bring a much-needed sense of economic empowerment to the Black Press. And we need it now.
Those who know Dr. Warren know he is about business—serious business—and he is astute in the matters of law, order, and enterprise. With this win, I personally pray to continue being an active, viable member of this illustrious organization under the leadership of such a distinguished group of media owners and professionals, united to wield the collective power of more than 200 Black Press institutions to speak truth to power.
This mission becomes even more vital in the wake of what just occurred with the passage and signing of the Triple B Bill by the President. The Black Press, under Dr. Warren’s leadership, is willing, ready, and able to get the message out—from our states to the White House, and to our thousands—indeed millions—of loyal readers who have stood by the Black Press since its founding in the 1800s during Reconstruction.
Congratulations once again, Dr. Warren. It is truly your time to shine, to lead this New Reconstruction of America alongside the National Black Press—including this 30-year-old, legally adjudicated newspaper, PACE NEWS.
Let’s go forward together, standing on truth, history, and purpose.
