Blueprint for Success: Mayor Butts Supports Mayor Sharif’s Re-Election in Compton at WePlay Studios in Inglewood
By Gloria Zuurveen, Editor-in-Chief
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
When I heard the good news that Mayor James T. Butts, Jr. of Inglewood is welcoming Mayor Emma Sharif of Compton to the great WePlay Studios to officially launch her re-election fundraiser, I was overjoyed—elated and jubilant!
Why? Because this is about time. It’s about leadership, vision, and legacy. It’s about one mayor who has built a blueprint for success, and another who is wise enough to follow it.
Mayor Butts has done what many said could not be done. He transformed Inglewood into a global destination city—economically thriving, culturally vibrant, and community strong. His leadership is proven, his track record undeniable. So when Mayor Sharif seeks counsel and partnership from someone who has been there and done that, she is showing wisdom, humility, and strategy.
The City of Compton, like Inglewood, is rich with potential and promise. With demographics that mirror each other, these two cities share a destiny—and now, through collaboration and mentorship, they can share in success. Mayor Sharif has always been a fighter—from her early days with the NAACP to now leading Compton with dignity and purpose. And now, she’s stepping forward into the light, partnering with a proven winner.
Mayor Butts’ support of Mayor Sharif sends a powerful message: unity, mentorship, and progress among Black and Brown leaders is the way forward, working together to build their towns. His guidance is a gift, a blueprint etched in wisdom, and a reminder that when one city rises, we all rise.
But let me speak plainly: Mayor Sharif needs our help.
We can’t just talk about supporting our leaders—we must be about it. She needs resources, funding, and community backing to run a winning campaign.
So I’m asking all who believe in progress, partnership, and power through unity—join in. Let’s put our money where our mouth is.
Give $50 or more to stand with Mayor Emma Sharif.
Support the movement for strong leadership in Compton.
Follow the example of Mayor Butts, who shows us what visionary leadership looks like in action.
It’s time to shine light where it’s needed most. Together, we can help Mayor Sharif win—because when she wins, Compton wins. And when Compton wins, we all win.
The Southern Truth is clear:
Let’s unite, support, and sow into those who have shown up and stood strong for the people.
“Join the movement — give $50 or more to help Mayor Sharif win with Mayor Butts’ blueprint for success.”
