THE SOUTHERN TRUTH: Give Thanks With Knowledge, Wisdom, and the Power to Be Free
By Gloria Zuurveen, Publisher & Editor-in-Chief
As we lift our voices in exaltation to the Lord—the Maker of heaven and earth—let us remember this eternal truth: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world and they that dwell therein.” Everything in this world belongs to God. Therefore, in this Thanksgiving season, it is only right that we exalt His Holy Name with both gratitude and knowledge.
For what good is giving thanks if we do not understand what we are partaking of in abundance—especially the food placed before us? Thanksgiving is not only a day to break bread, but a call to open our eyes to the truth of what we consume and how it shapes our bodies, our minds, and our future. Christ, the Anointed One, came with truth and righteousness to set the captives free—free from sin, free from bondage, and yes, even free from the modern slavery of consumerism. Today’s chains are not iron and steel; they are additives, engineered foods, corporate greed, and systems designed to keep us feeding the needy while enriching the greedy. This world and its leaders have created cycles of consumption that harm our communities, and that is exactly why Jesus Christ came long ago: to break the yoke, to shine the light, to free us from deception.
So as we gather around the table this season, breaking bread and listening to blessings spoken over our meals, let us also listen for the deeper message—the message of truth. Let us beware if we care.
If we care about our children…
If we care about the next generation being truly flesh and blood—not processed, altered, weakened, and sickened by what corporations choose to feed us…
If we care about raising souls who know how to love, live, and flourish in good health…
Then we must give thanks with more than words.
We must give thanks with wisdom, understanding, and action.
Because this is what Thanksgiving is really all about:
A gratitude that begins within, a knowing that God has already given us the victory, and a promise that—if we stand in truth—we will win in the end.
May we move forward in this season with eyes open, hearts awakened, and spirits lifted high.
May we walk boldly in the Southern Truth, declaring freedom, health, and righteousness for ourselves and for generations yet unborn.
And let the church say—Amen, and Happy Thanksgiving.
